What is a mutual ministry goal?

Most Episcopal congregations gather their leaders every year to develop ministry goals, and St. Paul’s is required to do so as part of your written agreement with the rector.

This April 2024, your vestry and rector met to set goals for this year:

  • Equip individual vestry members in their personal development as leaders

  • Develop and sustain the cohesion of the vestry as a well-bonded working group

  • Develop the evangelism ministry of the vestry, individually and as a group

What are the mutual ministry goals?

Leadership Development
We are finding ways to develop confidence in the leaders who serve on the vestry. In addition, we want to develop the corps of lay leaders who make nearly everything happen at St. Paul’s.

Cohesive Community
Our effort to be a more cohesive group will focus on social connections in our daily and weekly work as your leaders. Some of this is fun, like the new text string we’ve made to keep in regular touch. And some of this is fun but in a more solemn way, like reflection sessions, social gatherings, or small retreats during the year to get better acquainted, work effectively, and bond as a group.

Evangelism
Evangelism is any expression of personal or communal faith, in spoken word, art, music, or action, that shares the Good News with others. Like the text string, we are incorporating fun into this goal, as a motivator but also as a legitimate evangelism tool. (Stay tuned for a social-media video, created by your vestry and rector, that celebrates St. Paul’s!) But we’ll go deeper, of course. Vestry members may take the Weekly Word column from time to time, or participate in faith formation on the topic of evangelism. We’ll look at our website content, and pay more attention to our parish Facebook group page. We’re generating lots of ideas.
